I bought this Viper PST 1-4X MRAD scope after over a year of reviewing potential 3-gun scopes and am very pleased with the results. It's got super-clear glass, a nice, wide field of view, and best of all, a fantastic reticle that is perfect for rapid transitions between close-up targets and also for taking those precision shots out past 500 yards. The biggest pleasant surprise for me is how super-fine the stadia lines are–I came from an ACOG, whose BDC lines are so thick they almost completely cover up a 10" steel plate at 400yds or more. On the Viper PST's reticle, the stadia are so fine that I was able to visually slice a 10" plate into quadrants even out to 500yds*. And my shot placement and scores have dramatically improved. The biggest disappointment was to find that the reticle's illumination is not bright enough for the bright desert sunlight. It's definitely bright, just not as bright as say the Meopta K-Dot scopes, which DO hold up in the same bright sunlight. But all that is more than made-up for by the outstanding features. I love the large target turrets (though I wish they were about 5mm shorter so I wouldn't knock them into barricades), the return-to-zero-lock, and the little amenities like the fiber optic indicators. Best of all is the no-questions-asked warranty. My hope is that Vortex will someday improve the reticle brightness, and I'll send my scope in for a free upgrade, making it quite literally the PERFECT 3-gun scope. I have compared this to my friend's Swarovski Z6i, and though that is a very fine scope, I consider the VIper PST better for 3-gunning for a couple of reasons: far better reticle design, better controls. I also compared it side-by-side with the much-cheaper Burris TAC30 that some of my squad-mates are running. They enjoy having a true BDC on the TAC30 (especially versus the Trijicon TR24s they used to run), but I prefer the finer stadia lines of the Viper PST and much better build quality. If this scope were lost, I would definitely buy another one.* I should warn those buyers with poor eyesight: the reticle's stadia lines are too fine for the members of my squad that require reading glasses.Pros: Bright, clear glass, superb reticle, handy turrets and features.Cons: Illumination not really daylight visible, MRAD clicks are a bit too coarse compared to the MOA model, zoom ring is a bit stiff for competition.

Have had this scope for a while holds up really well. Has great glass and is durable.Turrets are solid, return to zero is solid!! Scope is just awesome all around Would recommend to any one looking for a good optic.

This product truly excels in its market segment, particularly considering the exceptional value it provides. It's quite remarkable that this scope is not being sold above its retail price, given that similar products from competing brands are typically offered at twice the cost. It is also noteworthy that Vortex has discontinued production of the PST model with 1-4 magnification, making this particular model even more precious. Moreover, the lightweight design of this scope sets it apart from the competition, contributing to its suitability for any firearm build. The blend of its rare availability, superior performance, and budget-friendly cost makes this scope a highly attractive option for discerning buyers. While my personal preference leans towards a scope with a first focal plane (FFP), I recognize that at a 4x magnification, the need for FFP becomes less critical. The use of a Second Focal Plane (SFP) in this scope not only brings significant savings in terms of weight but also adequately meets the requirements for this level of magnification. What's more, the uncapped turrets are a feature I greatly appreciate. This adds to the practicality of the scope, making it an ideal choice for both novices and seasoned professionals. It is indeed a perfect blend of functionality and accessibility, contributing to its overall practicality.

The scope is clear & images are sharp (almost, yes ALMOST as good as my Zeiss), and the windage & elevation adjustments are positive and repeatable. At 10 feet it looks like about 1.1 power, however at 25 feet and beyond it looks like true 1 X. 4x is definetely 4X. The finish is excellent and uniform. It is a very good value for the money. The only negative comment concerns the adjustability of the illuminated reticle. Brightness adjustments 1-4 must be for night vision equipment because they are not visible to the eye even in a darkened room. Adjustment 5 is just visible in a darken room. Adjustments 6-10 are very visible but the jump between adjustments 5-6 is pretty drastic. Adjustment 10 is visible in the daylight unless looking directly towards the sun, but then it appears to be black which is just fine. I am neutral about setting up the baseline click adjustments for repeatability via the brass washers/shims enclosed with the scope. It's not that it doesn't work, it works fine. However the instruction manual could have been written with a little more clarity.Pros: Good Value for the PriceCons: Adjustability of the Illuminated Reticle

I was limited to only 4 power on my rifle. Long story, but this is a really good optic. I shot it at 20 yards and i was a touch high out of the box. No adjustment and i dont waste my time with a bore sight. I then backed up to 50 yards. Shot 20 rounds total on a bench and all were within a 1in circle. This scope was zeroed at 50. Maybe i got Lucky, but Im really happy

Love the scope and the reticle is great. The off position between each power position for the illuminated reticle is really smart. Love the open exposed elevation and windage adjustors. Having to remove and install caps on other scopes is a pain, especially when you need to make range adjustment. Use a strong mount. Don't cheap out on the mount and you will be very happy with the scope's performance. My only dislike is the mil dot reticle cross isn't dark or bold enough for fast comfortable use. May be my eyes, I am 47 and use contacts. But the mil dot lines are small and thin.
