Lightweight, high quality optic. Started out with other vortex viper and that scope was just too heavy for my setup. LHT razor is perfectly balanced and ideal for my .300wsm mountain rifle. Elevation clicks could be a little more crisp but that would be my only critique.

The scope is great. The glass is superb and the features are awesome. Love the locking turret. I was disappointed that it was not shipped the free two day they say on OpticsPlanet website they have suspended it.

This is the second one of these I’ve bought. I like the coin screw slots on the turrets, power range is just right and the 42 mm lets me mount the scope low. Don’t much care for the zero stop. Power adjustment ring is very stiff. I put a throw lever on the first one I bought but this one is a smaller diameter and I cannot find one.

I have owned cheaper scopes and dreamed of the high price scopes when standing in a retail store with one up to my eye. Although for the extra bells and whistles I do not think I would spend the money now that I have this Vortex made in Japan scope. With an illuminated red dot and low clutter holdover marks I don't want or need what Swarovski offers.

Good things come for those who wait. After a couple of years of searching for the perfect long-range rifle scope for hunting – Vortex just knocked this one out of the ballpark. My criteria were: clear/bright glass; light weight; parallax adjustment; a KISS reticle with windage and elevation marked in the reticle; a zero-stop; a reticle line thick enough to see in shadows; illuminated; and well under $2K.A lot to ask for. I was frustrated with many of the light-weights like Leupold who made “long-range” hunters – but without parallax adjustment and no windage marks for hold over on the horizontal reticle line (?) – Certainly a feature more important than an external windage knob. Many of the other scope makers had similar designs with Mil-dots or non-enumerated hash marks. Unfortunately, some of the great Vortex range or competition scopes were as heavy as a tank. I had picked up the now discontinued predecessor Vortex-HD 3-15×42 after reading about it in Phill Massaro’s Big Book of Ballistics. With the original HSR-4 reticle and its 1” lightweight tube – it was a near perfect long-range hunter, with the exception of being non-illuminated.The new Razor HD LHT 3-15x42mm with its 30mm tube, HSR-5i reticle, and illuminated dot is pretty much – Perfect. The reticle is SIMPLE and practical. The Zero-stop is Easy to install. Although the Zero-stop limits elevation travel to 29 MOA (or equivalent in the Mil model), for most hunting applications that would get most rifles out to the 700-800 yard range.I mounted it on a Tikka CTR 6.5 Creedmoor and took it out to 1,000 yards. At that distance the 10” steel plate was clearly visible. Since the Tikka barrels run slow, I ran out of elevation with the 29 MOA maxed out so I used the numbered hash marks on the reticle and windage marks to hit steel at 1,000.The other great thing about this scope is that the illumination is limited to a small crisp center dot – not the entire reticle or a Christmas tree which tends to obscure night vision in low-light.I also mounted one on a Browning H C Speed in 30-06 which gives me a great lightweight hunter that enables me to clearly see and hit game out to my personal reasonable hunting limit of 500 yards. In short, the new Razor HD LHT 3-15x42mm is a solid light-weight hunter, a great choice for a DMR, and far superior to the old Leupold Mk 3 or 4 used on the M-24 Sniper system. And, at 19 oz and with the Optics Planet price of just under $1,000 – Vortex just blew the competition away.

In my experience, this is the best optic for the money considering the features, glass quality, and weight. Vortex is doing what leupold is unable to do. The eyebox is very tight at 15x, at 12x the eyebox is large enough for off hand shooting.
