The product appears to be great quality, the materials are top notch and the gel cups are extremely comfortable. The gel cups help to prevent headaches after hours of wearing them unlike my peltor comtac III. The audio quality is great with multiple volume levels. The three different audio functions are a nice touch especially if I’m in a constantly loud environment like an APC or being around loud machinery. The rubber cage around the foam/mic is also a nice touch. I’ve lost those foam pieces on my peltors multiple times. The profile of the ears don’t interfere with running a rifle. They also fold up nice for storage. I’m not sure how well they work with a helmet as my peltors are dedicated to my ballistic helmet. I’ve used the liberators for general range work, with a variety of 5-20 team guys shooting SBRs and they have no problem blocking the loud noise and still allowing me to provide instructions at a normal tone. The loud tones are just dampened and not completely cut out like some lesser quality brands. I have not used the liberators in a CQB shoot house environment so I cannot advise how well they work with the additional concussion from that environment. So far I am completely happy with my purchase and expect these to last a long time.

Comfortable, fit-well, 3 sound reduction settings, many color options, lots of accessories to add on but best of all made by Safariland! Enough said! Order and delivery was smooth from Optics Planet, received them on time

I own both the previous version of HP and this one, and I have to say the electronics upgrade offers an amazing sound quality! I normally wear these for outdoor shooting, and I use them in Mode 1 (ANR). For indoor shooting, I use either Mode 2 (ANC) or Mode 3 (ANR/ANC) as the percussion of shooting indoors requires better NRR. That's the whole reason for the three modes; to customize your hearing protection / ambient noise levels based on the environment.I'm also a fan of the adaptive suspension! I have the Team Wendy mounts for these, and I can switch from over the head to the helmet mounts in just a few minutes. They're also made in the USA, which is not something you'll find in other manufacturers. They have a very responsive customer service group. An actual phone number that someone answers and an email the gets a reply within 24hrs.A great buy for the price, and a great upgrade from previous versions!

These things are way overrated. They use the MSA Sordin gel cups but they're not the same as the MSA/Sordin gel cups! The genuine MSA/Sordin cups have these dots all around probably from the molding process and the MSA/Sordin foam inserts are very blue. These are like knock-off MSA/Sordin cups, but if you go to Safariland/TCI's website they carry replacement hygiene kits with the same MSA/Sordin part numbers! The metal hinges clip into the plastic headband and I can see how eventually the plastic could fatigue/break, and also one of my clips wasn't bent properly so it was ready to slip right out.The audio quality is absolutely abysmal. Voices sound muffled with the higher frequency response chopped out in mode 1 and it amplifies ambient sounds like vents/fans instead of voices! So if you're in a quiet environment with maybe a refigerator or your central air running, it will absolutely amplify the refrigerator and central air causing a loud humming in the background. Or if you're in an indoor range with a vent register nearby, it will amplify that instead of voices. In a quiet room, the Liberator's will make normal voices/sounds feel muffled and muted. It really hurts situational awareness. It also reboots itself when you smack it on something like a wall, or a table. The first time it happened to me I was wondering what was going on. When I went to email Safariland with some questions, their server kicked back with an error message saying my Gmail email domain was blocked. I went to contact Sordin with questions in July, and received an auto out of office response saying they are on vacation until September! My Peltor Sport Tactical 500's have a lot of flaws, but they have 26 dB NRR and the audio quality is the same as the Comtac's, which is almost like a true reproduction of sound. When I put my 500's on, it sounds like I didn't put anything on until there's gunfire or loud noises when it starts attenuating it. The side-effect of the 500's is that I hear everyone's conversation at the range crystal clear. Conversations about someone's dog are crystal clear admist heavy gun fire. My Peltor 500 headband broke at the plastic hinge, and it is a common problem – which is why I am not a fan of the Safariland/MSA/Sordin plastic design. However I have swapped in a Comtac headband for my 500 along with the 3M Hygiene gel cups due to 3M/Peltor's commonality of parts. MSA/Sordin/Safariland have a very specific design and I have not found any replacements that are more durable. There's probably a reason why I see more of the Peltors/Comtacs in use by operators.Overall: 1/5 stars. Hard pass on these Liberator HP 2.0's – they are junk but the batteries are easier to swap than the MSA/Sordin's. If I had to do it all over again I'd just go with Peltor Comtac's.
Rounds Down Range –
Look, I've used a bunch of headsets in my time. This headset sounds better and has the most features out of the entire pile. Some of the features I'm not using but its good to have them down the road. Really good to go!

They work. They suppress the sound of gun fire. The battery compartment is water resistant. So they have that. I'm just not all that impressed with the rest. There are two significant things that I miss from my old ear pro. First is that you can't turn the volume up very high. The highest volume is like, normal volume. My old ear pro I could turn it up enough to be able to hear what was happening in the next room. On these I have them turned up all the way, and it's normal talking volume. I'd like it more if they could be a louder. I like having the option of turning the volume up so that I can have super-hearing at the range, so I can hear everything going on around me. When I'm wearing these I feel so limited on what I can hear going on around me. I'd almost say you hear less than what you hear without them. I tried all three settings and I couldn't make any improvement. They do block the sound of the gun shot, so they do what they are supposed to, but I'd give another star if I could turn the volume up. The second thing that I don't like is that they don't fold up. My old ear pro could fold up nice and compact, easy to store in my range bag. These don't, I can't put them in my range bag because they take up too much space. I carry them separate. A solid three star.
