The Contractor 320 from Armasight is a thermal weapon sight designed to be the perfect companion to those who hunt at night. The Contractor is built off a proprietary ArmaCORE 320×240 12-micron thermal core. It provides excellent image processing and impressive detection ranges. The Contractor provides superb image processing with an industry leading 60 Hz refresh rate and an internal memory. This allows for a reduced pixel size and an increase in resolution. This unit also comes standard with a wireless communication interface and GPS. Additionally, the ArmaCORE utilizes a 35% reduction in power consumption which allows the unit to run for up to four hours on two CR123A batteries. Armasight designed the Contractor Thermal Imaging Scopes to be robust and intuitive. The turret system is tactile and makes it easy to navigate the menus and various color palettes. The aluminum body is MIL-STD compliant and perfect for all weather conditions. The Contractor features everything you could want in a thermal optic. This includes multiple color palettes, 8+ reticles, 4 Image Detail Enhancements, Inclinometer, Levelometer, Angle Cosine Indicator, Graphic Compass, and if that wasn’t enough an Integrated Stadiametric Rangefinder helps you identify how far away your target is. Once you find your target you can take both photos as well as up to 4 hours of video and stream via USB or Wi-Fi. My first exposure to the Armasight Contractor was while sitting in a pitch black blind in Texas hill country at 11:30pm. My hunting guide handed me a rifle with the Contractor mounted and gave me a 2 minute rundown of the controls and that's all it took for me to get locked in. Within 10 minutes I had smoked two hogs at 100yrd. If you had told me I could figure out how to operate a thermal I'd never used before on the spot, in the dark, I'd think you were crazy. The Armasight Contractor literally is that easy to use. Everything on the scope is operated from 3 knobs that have clearly defined clicks and simple 1-button record feature makes it by far the easiest to operate thermal scope on the market. I was excited to see Armasight back in business and even more excited now after using one of the fantastic new products they've launched this year. Looking forward to more new gear from Armasight!

We purchased Thermals a few years back to help protect our livestock from predators during calving. One of my neighbors picked up the Contractor 320 resolution and I was blown away by how much better it was than the 320 resolution units we had. So we traded up and really fell in love with this unit not only because the resolution is better but also because the turrets and menu features are so much easier to use than any thermal we've ever tried (especially with gloves on)I wish it had an internal range finder. But I hear one is in the works.

My first experience with the Armasight Contractor was when it was “issued to me” in the swamps of Louisiana on a pig hunt. It was on a borrowed AR in .5.56 with an effective suppressor the guides kept handy as part of a ready arsenal for paying customers. There were a variety of calibers and guns represented, but all were ARs, and all were easy to shoot for hunters of all skill and experience levels. When a group of swampy pig guides keep a Contractor around is pretty good cred in my book. Late afternoon we went out and I got volunteered into sighting in this rig, since it was just mounted on this new gun with the suppressor. It was over 90F and sunny and my pores were leaking. It was just under 200% humidity. We drove out to a field where our road split the acreage until it met the sky. A framed target fixture about 4 foot square stood about 25 yards away and held thick cardboard backing and remnants of weathered and bullet-riddled targets. Many of these targets were reflective, such as Armasight sight in Targets, or strips of metal cans, but there were also strips of metal HVAC tape stuck anywhere and everywhere. Rolls of this tape are affordable targets and they’re darn convenient. Tarnished and bullet-punctured ribbons of the tape, separated from its once sticky backing moved slightly in the light breeze but not enough to cool my soppy wet head under my cap.So they sat me down on a rickety metal bench with an even ricketier metal chair that barely held my weight. Later a big guy squished the chair while testing his rifle, oops! I couldn’t find my bullet hole. I ended up finally finding it by aiming high, low, left, right, until I found a hole. That’s all you need. The rest was simple. Except for the sweat dripping in my eyes. Contractor has a simple design in a compact package that weighs little. The 3-12×25 performance is plenty for what we were doing here. In our hunting area we rarely had targets over 300 yards, so the 320 was just about perfect, especially on a lightweight carbine that wouldn’t often get to see much farther than that.I got to know the Contractor the previous evening when unmounted. I appreciate the simple menu and buttons more than anything. I love keeping things simple, allowing me the comfort to do my job behind trigger rather than getting frustrated with some electronic stuff. Both menu controls are straightforward and I remembered how to get where I needed to after a short time. I followed the prompts to sight in and it was uneventful.I shot a few pigs and other targets of opportunity that night armed with the 320 3-12×25 Contractor and found it to be a solid unit that did what was asked of it. My longest large target that night was about 175 yards away, and my resolution and magnification were excellent. It was compact and not at all clumsy.Later tried the same kind of unit on a S&W M&P 15-22 and it was a riot! That rig was used to introduce new shooters to thermal!

I was skeptical about the new Armasight Contractor line up. Trying to compare it to the old Armasight Scopes that were built like tanks. The Apollo and Zeus were heavy, but they stood up to a lot of hard use and are still working!I have been pleasantly surprised by the new Contractor 320 3-12x. The external knobs are very intuitive and make changing color palettes, reticles and reticle color extremely easy by just selecting the menu and rotating knobs. It also has a cool feature where you can lock out the turrets by clicking the left turret 3x times so you do not accidentally bump it and change a pallet or pull up a menu. The thing that really impressed me most was how easy it was to zero this scope on my rifle. I was on target and dead center in 2 shots! No menus to go through and buttons to hold and 3 different menus to memorize like some of the others I've tried. Its so intuitive that I did not even read the manual, which I probably should. I should mention that this scope is American made, that's a big deal to me.Honestly, for a 320 resolution unit it is clearer than some of the 384 units I own that are way lacking on features comparatively. So far, my Contractor 320 is durable and has withstood south Texas heat and dust plus bouncing around in the front seat of a side by side or a truck all summer when checking fields for hogs. I really like this unit and excited to see what else is coming around the corner from Armasight.

I’ve spent years learning about night time optics and deciding what to buy – night vision vs thermal, so many brands, so many price ranges, so many variations… it’s a maze – and an expensive decision that I didn’t want to get wrong….. I received my Armasight 320 Contractor, spent time getting familiar with it, adjusted the settings to my liking – and am really pleased. I’ve viewed deer and hogs (and lots of small game) out to 200 yards with plenty of clarify and definition to make distinctions between these animals and make accurate shot placement. It turns on quickly and, as others have mentioned, is very intuitive / easy to operate with the turrets – and there are some very cool features built into this product (like Mil type internal compass / inclinometer / level… displayed on the screen). I’ve had the chance to compare a few other manufacturer’s thermal devices of similar cost and am convinced this one is much better….. My only dislikes are that the Operator’s Manual is pretty vague (example – it points out the diopter adjustment, but provides no description of what this feature is used for – and I can’t find any more comprehensive details online or on Armasight’s website)…… and unrelated to the product itself, I had a couple of weeks order delay with Optics Planet processing my ITAR Certification (I assume because this is a true Mil-Spec type optic there are more stringent requirements?) – which took multiple emails and follow up phone call – that was pain…. All in all I’m happy with my purchase and think it was a good decision.

I was working on setting up myself and the other guides with night vision & thermal optics for our Florida night time hunts.Having a little experience with just about all the other popular Thermal brands , I had some ideas of specific features and standard functions that I know from the experience of long hours in the field running thermals were more desirable. The Contractor 320 3-12x is the newest latest greatest Technology from Armasight and I like it!The Contractor is a light & compact Military grade optic built to specs that very few if any of the other brands have ever shown us. These scopes are tough and more waterproof than any Thermal we have ever used.Designed with only 3 External Knobs that are used to operate the entire scope makes it simple to run. One of those knobs is the on/off switch which is a strong positive click on or off and you don’t even have to look at it or see it to operate. You can feel it by touch. I really like that feature so I don’t waste battery life by accident. The other two knobs are nice sized Turrets that you can turn in both directions to work through the visible menu options on screen. The Turrets are so easy to turn right or left even with gloves on you never have to take your eye out of the scope or lose Target Acquisition to change the color of the pallet or run the rangefinder , change brightness levels or change any of the settings for the best image. I really like that it took only 2 shots to Zero. The Quick Detach Mounts and 5 different rifle profiles make it simple to move optic to and from whatever gun you want to use that day. I did not trust that it would hold zero at first but I have tested it so many times I can honestly say that these Armasights have always returned to zero (less than 1 inch difference at 100 yards) from weapon weapon as long as you mount it in the same exact place on each gun.We have purchased 5 of the new scopes and it has totaled upgraded our Night Time Hunting to a level of consistency that we had never experienced. For all of our Guides & Hunters to be running the same equipment being able to communicate back-and-forth talking the same language it has been amazing. Can’t wait to see what’s next from Armasight!
