The Contractor 320 from Armasight thermal weapon sight designed to be the perfect companion to those who hunt at night. The Contractor is built off a proprietary ArmaCORE 320×240 12-micron thermal core. It provides excellent image processing and impressive detection ranges. The Contractor provides superb image processing with an industry leading 60 Hz refresh rate and an internal memory. This allows for a reduced pixel size and an increase in resolution. This unit also comes standard with a wireless communication interface and GPS. Additionally, the ArmaCORE utilizes a 35% reduction in power consumption which allows the unit to run for up to four hours on two CR123A batteries. Armasight designed the Contractor Thermal Imaging Scopes to be robust and intuitive. The turret system is tactile and makes it easy to navigate the menus and various color palettes. The aluminum body is MIL-STD compliant and perfect for all weather conditions. The Contractor features everything you could want in a thermal optic. This includes multiple color palettes, 8+ reticles, 4 Image Detail Enhancements, Inclinometer, Levelometer, Angle Cosine Indicator, Graphic Compass, and if that wasn’t enough an Integrated Stadiametric Rangefinder helps you identify how far away your target is. Once you find your target you can take both photos as well as up to 4 hours of video and stream via USB or Wi-Fi. The resolution leaves a lot to be desired, but it is a 320. I have easily detected deer to 150 yards, but smaller animals are difficult to distinguish. The digital zoom gets quite blurry. Sighting was pretty simple.

I have Pulsars, ATNs, and I've even tried AGM units and nothing has been as easy to use as the Armasight Contractor. The photos don't show it but mine came with a QD mount… not sure if I got lucky or what but it was really nice. I mounted it up, took the thermal target that came in the box, and once I found the boresight menu it only took me about 5 shots to get it dead-on at 50 yards… and 2 shots were wasted until I realized I needed to shift to point of impact and save my changes before shooting. I already dropped three hogs and a coyote before I realized I never looked at the manual! The knobs (they call them turrets) for adjustments are so much better than buttons. The picture is incredibly clear for a 320. I showed it to my buddy who has the new 640 Pulsar and he thought it just as good as his Pulsar unit for way less money. It is a pain in the butt to copy the recordings by using a cable, I wish the app let you transfer, but I emailed Armasight and they said it was coming soon.Im super happy with this unit

Bought in January little frustrated for the price would go another route next time. As far as pros functions are easy to use, configuring is simple, sighting is easy. Cons digital zoom gets super blurry and touchy, no consistency whatsoever. A huge con is battery life these things will die in a hour or a little over on recording mode. For some reason I got sent a used one or demoed. Could tell the case had wear and tear and some minor things on the scope. Just used three times the past couple months coyote hunting died mid hunt everytime. And when you go to watch the recording comes up as corrupt file. Reached out never heard anything from optic.com. Moral of story is not really happy especially for the price tag.

I have played around with thermal monoculars and scopes for a while, professionally and as a predator hunter. Most of those that were worth mentioning were either outside the affordability range for an average mortal, or/and out of reach for those working outside the government sector. That all changed about 3 weeks ago for me when l pulled the proverbial trigger on this Armasight Contractor thermal weapon sight. From the moment I opened the package it was very obvious to me that the unit was quality built. One of the best things right out of the box, that jumped at me was: the owner’s manual appeared to be just a few pages. I think 20-ish or so. Almost to a point where l believed that they may have forgotten to include the full manual with it. Soon, I discovered why. The unit is so intuitive and simplistic that the two round knobs out of 4 total buttons on this scope take care of all but two functions, and are so easy to navigate that no complicated explanation is really necessary! The remaining two buttons are a “Push to record” button and an “On-off” button. Everything else is managed by two large “jog-shuttle”- like knurled knobs, easily manipulated even with a winter-gloved hand. The sighting in was literally 5 rounds at 50 yds, last 3 punching the center of the target out. The 6X magnification might be a bit, too, much for a hunter shooting at moving targets, but that’s, I guess, why they named this model Contractor and not Hunter. I have used it in the hunting fields and it provides a great clarity, superb target detection and recognition up close and at a distance but it is probably more at home in the field of Law Enforcement. The battery life in close to zero temperatures proved to be about 2.5 hrs of continuous running time, and about 4 hrs in temperatures hovering around the 40’s. I have ordered an external, rechargeable power bank which should extend the run time by several hours. I am very pleased with the unit and would highly recommend it. Only a couple of years ago a unit like this would have cost $14,000-$19,000. I am glad l waited!

I've had a chance to use the Contractor 320 6-24x and the 3-12x on several hunts down in Texas. One thing that stands out for me is the ease of use. Initial set-up is super easy, scroll through the color palette and reticle style, one shot zero, confirm zero, and roll out. The one-shot zero is way easier than I thought it would be but a good clean target or thermal specific targets really help. Aim center and shoot, then hold center while you dial the zeroing reticle to the point of impact and then set it. That becomes your new zero.DurabilityThe optic held up to all the normal truck and razor rides, hot TX days, cold nights in the Rocky Mountains, and some rain with no problems. This was mounted to my AR10 308 so there was some recoil but nothing excessive.Image qualityOne of the best 320 thermals out there. My first experience was pretty good, I could easily identify targets but the zoom function was useless. My second outing came after a firmware update and it felt like they doubled the resolution.

We purchased the 3-12 25mm lens unit of this Contractor when it came out. I have a review on there as well. I really enjoy the field of view that the 25mm lens offers, but if you are calling in coyotes or shooting at distances 100 yards plus, then this 50mm is where its at. I strongly recommend that if you are buying on specs, that you compare the Contractor to other "320 resolution units" we've tried several and there's no comparison to the detail this unit provides. Not sure why that is. Also love the simplicity of the buttons and menu on this unit above all others.
