Just hold the pistol and it works. Installation is completely straightforward. Adjustment is a breeze. I don't know what more I could ask. The only downside I have found is that it limits holster selections, as many good designs do not accommodate them.

I personally much prefer the LG-660 style of laser, but the 660 does not fit the M&P 2.0 version. S&W forces you to use the laser guard. Since S&W owns Crimson Trace now, you would think they would have ever option available for the S&W firearms. The laser worked fine. A little wonky and could see how it would get knocked out of Zero pretty easily. Attached with 2 very tiny screws "Clamping" the 2 pieces together. Now you mustz have a holster that allows for this type of laser. The activation button protrudes out on the grip feels very unusual to me. With the grip laser, it is easy to vary pressure to make the laser come on and off and still have enough grip to control the pistol. With this button being raised so high off the grip, you only gripping with you 2 lower fingers if you want to actuate the on/off button. Laser fit properly, laser worked, laser zeroed. I have 11 Crimson Trace lasers, that I love. I would not put this product on my personal firearms.
