A great inexpensive way to mount more gear without the cost of a rail.

Haven't used it as much as I would like but it was a simple way of outfitting a standard length handguard/AR with a light set up without full blown rail system. I'm not into all the pressure switch gadgets so this worked well for an non-dedicated, rear push button on/off switch system.Pros: Inexpensive what to attach light.Cons: Not great, but good enough.

It's a universal fit type piece and may require some modification to the piece and/or handguard for a proper fit. I managed to fit it to my Ruger AR556 without modifying anything, but I'm only using it to mount a light. I used loctite on the screws to keep the whole thing from coming undone. I would prefer a part specifically made to fit my handguard, but that doesn't exist.

If you need a 1913 rail attachment point to install a flashlight or other accessory at the 10' or 2' o'clock angle this is the answer. It secures well against the standard handguard and is less expensive than buying a new handguard.

I used these for some time, though only in training environments. In those environments, I was issued a stock M16A2 or M4 with the round handguards. These allowed me to mount a light on said firearms, which was a HUGE benefit, particularly when I reclassed to combat medic, and we had to find casualties in a dark building that was full of smoke. A railed or MLOK/Keymod handguard us vastly superior in every possible way, and there are good yet inexpensive handguards readily available, thar install with about the same effort, but if you are dealing with, say, a department-issued rifle, that you aren't allowed to replace parts on,this is a good option for a light, bur you can't use it for anything that requires a zero, like an offset dot or laser.
