To start, I used this mag couple for a rifle other than originally intended; I used it for Galil mags. That said, it works great! The Galil mags were a bit tight and they do not engage the locking tab due to the way they are shaped, but because they are snug they do not slip out. The offset they provide is far nicer than simply taping your magazines together!

These magazine couplers are about as necessary as any couplers out there. There's really nothing any of them will do that your favorite brand of tape won't do.That being said, these particular couplers by Mako Defense add a bit more flair to your setup than a roll of masking tape ever will. They also set the magazines at a stagger perfectly clear of the ejection port without creating a long mess of a magazine.Setup may be a little more difficult for the less mechanically inclined since instructions are not included (in my package at least). The locking tab at the bottom must be pushed in with some kind of punch to engage past the base plate in order to hold on to the magazine better. But before you even do this, you're gonna have to file down the little tabs on the left coupler so that it articulates perfectly with the slots on the right coupler. Don't file down too much. Just go a little bit at a time until it's easy to thwack the things into place with a rubber mallet. After you've got it set up the way you want it to be (right-hand ejection ports must have the right coupler lower than the left coupler and vice versa with left-side ejection ports), then insert the magazines and use some kind of punch to get the bottom locking tabs underneath (above, really) the base plates. You'll have a very stable platform after all of this is done. The two couplers lock together pretty damn tightly after you file them down a little bit and mallet them together, so consider it permanent. I haven't tried taking them apart; it's way too tough to try something that I don't intend on ever using.Very strong. Holds up in live firing, including dropping to prone and dropping spent magazines. Even full mags dropped on concrete will not crack destroy the couplers. Maybe a scratch or two and that's it. Enjoy.Pros: Holds onto mags very well. Holds up under firing well.Cons: ONLY FITS USGI STANAG magazines. A little tougher to set up for the less mechanically inclined.

This item is built well, it is sturdy and holds the magazines securely even from the bottom where it uses a small tab that slides under the magazine baseplate to keep them from slipping straight out. This coupler is a bit bulkier than the "normal" options but it doesn't add the clamping stress to your magazines either and if your not careful you can overtighten the screws and cause stress fractures on your polymer magazines possibly breaking them over the course of time. That won't happen with this coupler. I've only had this coupler a little more than a week and time will tell how durable it is but I believe FAB's coupler can have a place in your gearbag and at $14.00 it is worth it to me to find out. It is always nice to have more tools in your toolbox. Recommened.

If you’re running the old school metal magazines, these couplers work perfectly. Great fitment. No issues. Already have a second set on order.
