The Super 42 Rifle Length Spring for the M-16/AR-15, brings you the performance and user experience improvement of the Super 42 spring for your rifle length buffer tube. This unique spring design uses three independent strands of wire, that acts as a harmonic damper and energy absorber by allowing the springs to flex separately from each other. This flex helps displace excess energy which decreases the chance of spring failure and assists with making your M-16/AR-15 rifle more reliable while diminishing the twang sound from the butt-stock. The Geissele M-16/AR-15 Super 42 Rifle Length Spring works with a standard rifle length buffer and buffer tube. I think this GA rifle spring is a decent upgrade. Especially on sale… Can’t really grade how quiet it is compared to something like the Sprinco green springs I usually use.. used this with a Geissele URGI near clone 11.5 inch upper and an A5H2 buffer. Changed brass ejection of Hughes precision 5.56 55gr from 3oclock (green spring) to 4oclock unsuppressed. Feels smooth to me.

Using this spring with a Spike’s T2 buffer in a lightweight SR25 build in 6.5 Creedmoor with a mid-length, 16” barrel, A5 receiver extension, titanium BCG and SLR adjustable gas block. Rifle is super light and recoil is more comparable to an AR shooting 5.56/.223 even when suppressed. I’m using the Geissele super 42 in all my rifles going forward.

These springs are essential, so smooth and eliminate that twang you generally get from the ar platform. I run these in every rifle I have. Well worth it.

Though this spring is significantly more expensive than standard rifle length springs, it is worth it. I have my own line of ARs that I build for my business specifically to my specifications and this is the spring I use. It is very consistent, smooth, and reduces spring noise dramatically. Additionally, the price through opticsplanet is almost the same as dealer cost through RSR. The only difference is, opticsplanet always has them stocked and RSR is very hit or miss on stocked inventory. If you haven't tried the Super 42 series of springs yet, I highly recommend them!

Braided spring definitely helps reduce twang noise.

Purchased this to go in my 18" "SPR" type build I put together several years ago. Rifle has a plane jane A2 stock/rifle length tube setup, rifle lenght gas. Rifle has been a sweet shooter since day one…dead-nuts reliable and soft shooting. Only thing that sucked was that A2 twang. Decided to give this a try with some OpticsPlanet bucks I had. Surprised to say it all but eliminated any sound from the stock.
