This was my first purchase and use of a Thermal sight outside of my military service. The field of view for the thermal is a lot smaller then what I expected but it does what it was designed to do. So far I have used it up ro distances of 100ft and was able to clearly see heat signatures and tell what they were. I feel Holoson really hit the ball out of the park with combining a thermal with red dot. Later on this year I plan on testing it out while coyote hunting in a area that has dense woods.

Let me start by saying I have never used thermal before. This review is based on a new user. I understand that if you want to spend 6k to 12k on thermal, you will get better results. HOWEVER, this thing is bad a$$! I have been exceptionally surprised with the range! The 3x and 5x digital magnification is a bit disappointing but that is to be expected. I opted to put a 3x magnifier in front of mine and that is definitely the way to go! As far as quality of build, a very nice solid build. A bit of a concern about the objective doors and thermal sensor covers lasting over time and repeated use. As of now they are tight and work well. Now to the big winner, the overlay with the red dot is fantastic! Multiple options for both the dot and the thermal will give you a setup that works for you. I don't have a bunch of wear and tear on it as of yet but I'm quite confident so far. All this being said, keep in mind that this is a multi purpose item. As stated, it performs better than I had hoped for but will have it's limitations. Last but not least, I have also been happy with the refresh rate! Not only would I recommend this to others but, everyone I've shown it to says it will be added to their inventory soon!
