Holosun HE508T-GR-X2 1x 2 MOA Dot Green Dot Sights

Great optic, easy mounting and set up, and the discounted price that optic planet had was great, could not pass up.

As the title hints, I’m relatively new to optics. I decided to go ahead and get one for my Beretta 92 XI. Used the Beretta mounting plate. Mounting the optic and the plate were straightforward, but I did purchase a good torque wrench to ensure that my torque specs were right on the money. Installation took literally minutes, except for the pause between mounting the plate and the optic so the blue threadlocker could fully cure.Optic window is smallish, but with the choice of reticles, it’s really easy to acquire them quickly. Visually, everything is easy to acquire. Not sure a much larger window would have improved anything. Love the green! I have a red dot on another pistol. I tend to be liking the green a little better, and I’m not quite sure why. Maybe that will swap or equalize after I have a chance to experience both flavors in a variety of conditions.Optic quality seems great so far. Love the titanium burliness! Glad I shelled out the extra dough for it. Using this on a huge pistol like the Beretta 92, I couldn’t care less about the weight. I do enjoy the size because I can still conceal the damned thing IWB. Let’s hope all the other components are as tough as the shell that encloses them.Automatic sensor for light levels is nice and works great. Too soon for me to tell what’s the deal with battery life yet (my major hesitation and issue with optics). Maybe I’ll update the review in a year or so. Simplicity of design and ease of use are good, even for a clumsy, sausage-fingered oaf like me. As you can tell, I am pleased with this purchase. I guess I’d better be, 'cuz this thing was a bit on the spendy side. Outside of those little nitpicks, the entire experience was great. I enjoy doing business with Optics Planet in general.

I received my Holosun 508T X2 within a week of ordering from Optics Planet. I’ve only had it a short time and have only shot about 200 rounds through the pistol that it is mounted on between zeroing it and first initial shots. So far, the optic works as advertised and I think is an excellent value. Lots of features for the money. The shake awake feature works flawlessly, and the reticle is sharp and easily visible in all lighting conditions that I would encounter. Although I don’t shoot night vision, it is a good option to have in case I do that someday. It appears to be a very rugged optic, especially with the titanium housing. I am not law enforcement or military, but it’s good to know that if it can take the rigors of that application, it will certainly be plenty rugged enough for an every day citizen carrier. The window is generously sized for easy dot awareness in recoil and target acquisition and focus. The glass is very clear with almost no distortion, and the required tinting is minimal so as not to be distracting. It seems to be very good quality glass. Time will tell about battery life. Holosun claims 50,000 hours on setting 6. I am running mine on setting 7 in auto mode using the sleep/shake awake feature and see no problem with it lasting for at least a year just leaving it always turned on. It is a good idea to change your battery every year as easy insurance that your optic will always be ready and functional. It has three modes of operation. Auto, manual, and lockout. What I like about the auto mode is, you can set the minimum dimness of the reticle, so it won’t go below that setting and make your reticle too dim to see in a darker situation. Then, of course the reticle will automatically Brighten virtually instantly in a full sun environment. On setting 7 in auto mode, I can be in a dimly lit room inside while looking into a brighter room or out of a window on a sunny day and can still see the reticle easily enough. It has the multi reticle system where you can select just the 2 MOA dot. The dot with a 32 MOA circle or the dot with the circle. I use the dot only, but again, having those options is nice to have. I have mine on a Walther full-size PDP 5 inch and the mounting was easy. I was able to use the longer included screws to mount the optic to the plate. If you can use the longer screws instead of the shorter screws, it is a good idea to do so for a good thread engagement. I also have a Holosun SCS optic for my other Walther PDP that I ordered from OpticsPlanet as well. It has been on for about a year and a half and it has been and awesome optic. I gave the 508T 4 stars. It would easily get 5 stars if the auto brightness feature on the 508T sensed light forward facing like the SCS does instead of just ambient. So far I have been very happy with my Holosun optics and very happy with my buying experience from OpticsPlanet.
