Description

The next evolution in the Magpul Industries MBUS (Magpul Back-Up Sight) line, the MBUS 3 Front Rifle Sight incorporates the best features, strengths and value of our original MBUS and MBUS Pro AR 15 Parts in a feature-packed back-up sight system. Significantly reduced in size from the MBUS, the Magpul Industries MBUS 3 Front Rifle Sight sits at just 0.44in high when folded and 1.15in at its widest point. Its aesthetics are derived from the MBUS Pro, but the MBUS 3 Front Rifle Sight is constructed of our impact-resistant polymer, making it lightweight and extremely durable. Featuring the same spring-loaded technology as its predecessor, they can be deployed with an ambidextrous push-button. The MBUS 3 sits at standard AR-height when deployed. The MBUS 3 Front Rifle Sight includes tool-less elevation adjustments and a dual width enhanced front sight similar to the MBUS Pro. NOTE: Cannot be mounted to a railed gas block due to excess heat issues. Front MBUS must be mounted to a railed forend on the same plane as the receiver rail. Because of this the sight is also not compatible with MOE Hand Guards. It’s perfect. Super slim and light. Feels sturdy. Not hard to press the area to make it flip up. It’s a good blend of the pros and regular Mbus sights. Magpul did a really good job with this product.

I like this sight and the fact that it is a bit narrower then the older version. Tool-less elevation adjustments is also great as well. I’m using it with a unity fast mount that has a rear peep built in. I don’t know if it is intentional or not but if you raise the pin in the sight up high enough and twist it 90 degrees, the pin is skinnier which I like for more precise shots and a bigger sight picture looking through the rear peep. Great piece to any build.

The MBUS 3 sight housings are slightly smaller and lower profile than the gen 2 while being much easier to adjust (no tool or makeshift implement is needed for the front sight, and the rear sight's small to large aperture selection is made easier with separate apertures separated by 45 degrees of rotation – no more prying apart with your fingernail – just a flip!). Durability and accuracy seem to be as good as previous versions. The front sight post is dual width while the rear sight large aperture seems to have a slightly enlarged diameter over previous versions, which gives you a better view of the outside prongs of the front sight. I was looking forward to the adjustability of the front sight, however it's the improvements to the rear sight aperture that will have me replacing all the backup iron sights on my ARs with the MBUS 3 versions.

I’ve put Magpul iron sights on all of my rifles. Why? Because they’re the perfect compliment to the firearm. American made. I have had zero complaints, issues, or problems with these. Highly recommended.

I just got it on and I'm thinking I should have paid the $10 for shipping because this little guy is built for range days.I wonder how it will hold 0. It feels so fragile.

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, I bought myself a brand new Daniel Defense DDM4V7 at Range USA in Richmond, Texas. I returned to Range USA the following Monday and bought a set of Magpul MBUS3 sights for my new Kamala bait. On the same trip, I also bought a Sightmark Centerfire Boresight with Red Laser to help get the Magpul sights closer to zero before heading to the range. The laser indicated a windage adjustment was needed so I tweaked the rear MBUS3 sight. That was easy. The laser also told me my elevation was aimed high. I attempted to adjust the front sight post to line up with the little red spot projected on the target but it was not so simple and easy. The adjustment wheel was very difficult to turn so I consulted the expert community on Youtube and learned how to do it. When I succeeded in turning the wheel, I moved the post slightly downward by maybe a thirty-second of an inch, not nearly enough, but it refused to move further. I decided to raise it back up and have another go at it.When I raised the sight post back up it started spinning in place so I tried to pinch it with the fingers of my left hand while turning the adjustment wheel with my right hand. The sight post came out of the base. I attempted to reinsert it and screw it back down. No matter how hard I tried, the threads on the sight post refused to mesh with the threads inside of the base. It would not work. My brand new sight that has never been used to fire even one round seems to be permanently busted. After a couple of hours of trying everything I could think of and searching the web for help I decided to contact Magpul for advice. On October 16, I filled out the online contact form and hit send. In about an hour, I got a reply from a Magpul rep. He asked for my shipping address and what color my MBUS3 was. He said he would send me a replacement. I quickly replied with the requested data and relaxed for the rest of the day with three fingers-worth of the Macallan 18 and a good feeling that my money wasn’t wasted after all.It took Federal Express 33 hours and 22 minutes (4:58PM on October18 until 2:20AM on October 20) to move my new sight eleven hundred miles from Cheyenne, Wyoming to Cypress, Texas. The FedEx facility in Cypress is fifteen miles from my front door. It took Federal Express 57 hours and 39 minutes (2:20AM, 10/20/24 to 11:59AM, 10/22/24), to move my new sight fifteen miles which can be driven in twenty minutes without violating any speed limit. The first thing I did after opening the package was to try to move the sight post downward. There is an arrow on the sight base with an arrow pointing to the right and the word “UP” beneath it. So I turned the adjustment wheel to the left expecting it to move downward. The post moved upward. So I turned the wheel again to the left and the sight post started spinning. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to keep the sight post from spinning and turned the wheel to the left. The sight post came completely out of the base just like the previous defective MBUS3. I am now convinced the design is pitifully flawed and worthless. I will send the older defective sight to Magpul as requested and do whatever it takes to modify this latest acquisition to make it work as intended. My money was wasted after all and Magpul has lost a customer forever.
