I purchased two of these 1500D Silica Gel items. One was for a larger sized Pelican case and another for a small 'dry box'. They have worked out great and I've already recharged the one from the Pelican case in the oven (3 hours at 300 degrees). As I value the item contained within the Pelican case I think this preventative item is well worth the cost. I would certainly recommend it to anyone with sensitive equipment. If you can't clean off your equipment right after use it seems to buy you some time before you get to it.Pros: Well, its advertised feature: absorbing moisture.Cons: Recharge time in the oven.

would buy two or threePros: Works well I am stationed in areas with high humidity and everything I own is mostly wet or damp all the time. Keeps all my gear within the pelican case Dry as a bone.Cons: Nothing but since I am in an area of high humidity I have to bake it more often. But other than that it works great.

If you store a firearm in a foam lined case, or carry a firearm in one for any length of time at all… remember that foam attracts & often traps moisture. The natural enemy of firearm finishes. Using a dessicant is ESSENTIAL, however they are not all the same or equal in how well they work. I've used a lot of different options, but none have worked as consistently well as Pelican. It not only will keep your weapons safe from corrosion, it's 100% reusable. When it becomes saturated just pop it in the oven per the directions & it will work again like brand new. This desiccant silica gel pack from Pelican has no equal!
