This a very sturdy AR15 vise block. It feels really solid and the adjustment eliminates any wobble when inserted in the mag well. It's made to be used vertically in the vise (the instructions state that the jaws of the vise jaws shouldn't be closed on the adjusting handle at the bottom) so the orientation is limited. The one drawback is that once the bolt catch is installed, you cannot invert the lower on the vise block – part of the bolt catch gets in the way (which was my experience with a my particular lower and build kit) – so you may want to install the grip before installing the bolt catch. The vise block securely holds a fully assembled rifle and the included pivot lock is a nice feature which holds the rifle open for cleaning.

This vice block is awesome quality. Feels super solid. Love the adjustable fit in the magazine well. Lower sits real solid in your vice, no wiggle once the magazine release snaps in. The hold open tab is a nice addition and makes barrel cleaning a snap.

I looked at a plastic magazine vise block which looked somewhat hollow or flimsy. I was pleasantly surprised when I received it. This thing is tough. The polymer is solid and heavy and it locks my AR-15 into place perfectly with only two turns of the handle. Even the places that "look" hollow are extremely solid. I had a no mar block before which loosely fit my rifle and pistol, but now, with this thing, I don't have to worry about it slipping a bit. The little plastic add-on tool is also cool too for cleaning, but probably better with a cleaning rod. Buy it, you wont be disappointed.

I was looking for one of the metal ones that I saw on a gunsmith channel, but it was overpriced. I do a lot of building, so I figured I would give this a try, as it's an upgrade to my old blocks. It does hold the receiver firm once tightened down. However, the angle of the magazine well shelf will not fit any of my lowers flush. It's not a big deal, just somewhat annoying. My lowers also sit at a slight cant when this is being utilized, which is still better than having them wobble around on one of the old blocks that don't tighten/expand. I wouldn't recommend using this to stake you castle nut though. Although it has flaws, I would recommend this product. Especially when it's on sale. I've never used the little red thing that comes with it.

I used the Real Avid Smart-Fit AR15 vise block on my second build of an Anderson Manufacturing build kit. On my first build, I only used my vice. With the second build, I used the Real Avid Smart-Fit AR15 vise block. It was very sturdy and the AR-15 was held in position. The build was much easier with it than without it. It definitely locked my gun in place. A great tool at a great price!

For the price you really can't beat this vise block. It's the only block out there that adjusts to magwells and securely fits without any wiggle room. The block is made of very solid and robust plastic, but it feels like there's a metal core. It's very very solid. The red knob at the bottom is easily adjustable to move an internal pin up or down thereby spreading the upper "flaps" outward to fit in any magwell. With this securely inside your ARs well, there is absolutely no budging or play whatsoever. It has made armoring work super simple. I would say this is by far the best AR vise block on the market today and I highly recommend it. For the price it beats Magpul's block by far.
