They have been tested and operated by skilled craftsmen to attain the firm, strong, and dependable tightening rings necessary for casting high-performance cases or precision reloading dies. When changed, Snap Rings require only a simple hand tightening process. However, case neck expansion must be done by the “take apart” method. The Redding Lock Ring and Snap Ring can only be used with Bench Rest Dies that have a “take apart” style bolt crimping design. If you have a take apart die that does not have a “take apart” type bolt crimping ring the design must be modified in order to use the Redding Lock Ring properly.
