I would recommend this red dot to anyone. Affordable, reliable, accurate, and tough. I read a lot of reviews and watched many reviews on you tube and they all had high reviews. This lived up to everything they were all saying. I look forward to many years of accurate shooting on the range with this new addition to my AR.

This is an update from my previous review. After about one year, the optic is running great. The motion activation has worked perfectly. I'm still on the first battery I put in it with no problems (I'll change out once a year, just to be safe) The mount did loosen up, but it was between the mount and the housing of the red dot (you should always check that anyway…. my bad) A little lock tight, torque it to instructions, and 800 rounds later no shift/loss of zero. The mount does protrude and I have ripped my gear as feared. I can be hard on my rifles/optics. This thing has been thrown around, accidentally knocked on concrete and wood supports, shot in heavy rain, inside/outside, low light/bright sun. 90 degrees/-10 degrees, and it's still going. For $150 on sale, can't beat it. Original review: Pros: All said and done, it's not a bad red dot. Reminds me of a poor man's CompM4. The body seems well made, the clarity or crispness of the dot is on par with other higher end red dots. LOVE that it uses a AA battery, i don't have to buy special batteries. And at 62,500 hours of estimated battery life, it's again on par with higher end red dots. Also love the "shake awake" or motion activated feature. For a home defense gun, this is one less thing to worry about under stress. The price was great too, these features are finally becoming afordable. If found on sale, you simply can't beat the price. Now the cons: it's big, long and heavy for a red dot, hopefully that translates to robustness. I wish the auto-off feature was delayed a little longer, say 5 or 10 minutes instead of 2 (personal preference). The adjustments are a little bit of a pain to access, but they are guarded by the tabs/ears so that's a bit of a good thing too. I haven't had any problems with the quick release mount yet that others have mentioned, but I've only got about 120 rounds through it. Also, if I do have problems with the mount I wasn't able to find aftermarket mounts that are compatible. My only slam on the mount right now is that it sticks out so far from the rifle. I forsee snagging it on my gear. All-in-all, so far so good. Definately worth it.

I was looking hard at the Aimpoint PRO but I had a hard time wanting to dish out $400+ on a red dot, especially having previously owned an EOTech EXPS-3 and an Aimpoint Comp M4. Don't get me wrong, I love Aimpoint and EOTechs, but I have been running Romeo 5's on my other rifles and decided to give the Romeo 7 a shot. This has siimilar features as the Aimpoint Pro. But with the Romeo 8 you get a AA battery, water resistance, shake awake and comes with the honeycomb anti glare screen and a lifetime warranty! Guys, all jokes aside, some of us are brand snobs (myself included), but you cant go wrong with this. I would put this to serious use if I had to and trust it, but my rifle is more of a stay in safe until needed. So for some of you scared to save some coin on this option, give it a shot. You will be totally surprised like I was. BUY IT!

This is a fantastic red dot sight. The build quality is excellent and everything you could want is included in the box. I've used a few CompM4's in my time and this sight is every bit their equal. For those who require, or prefer, a robust red dot this might just be the Romeo you've been waiting for.

My girlfriends son in DEA is using the Romeo5 on his personal AR-15, however, when I looked at SIG Sauer options, I felt that I would be better served to order the Romeo7. I'm a fan of (1) AA battery lasting 62,500 hours. I hunt coyotes in the Olympic Mountains with an AR-15 556/223, which allows me to use the Varmint Grenade frangible ammunition. The beauty of this Red Dot Sight is that it has an auto off/on circuit which turns on the sight when motion is detected. I've another brand of red dot and if you forget, and leave it on, when you need it in a possible home invasion your SOL. With the Romeo7, you don't even have to think about anything, save flipping the safety, and you're ready to 'rock and roll'. It's got amazingly clear glass and several red dot illuminations. They are also being used in Afghanistan. Consider the SIG SAUER Romeo7 an intelligent choice. You won't be sorry.

Yes it is not the newest, latest, but very happy i took the risk! Great field of view, works wonderfully magnified! I have mild astigmatism and the number of settings keeps the dot clear. I think it is on par with my Aimpoint PRO.
