Actually a little surprised at how well this little light works. I normally use it for close up work in very low or dark indoor lighting. But I've also used it outside, walking around the yard. While it only has two levels of brightness, the low level works well indoors, and the high level works ok outdoors. It's not a massive beam outdoors, but it's plenty good to see where you are going. For my use indoors, I use it for two to two and a half hours a night. A full charge gives about two and a half days of light before needing a charge, so I try to charge it after every two days, so it doesn't die half way through the evening. One thing, when the batteries get low, the light doesn't just "dim", it blinks a few times, for 3 or 4 times, then shuts off.The light is a nice wide flood type light. There's very little shadow cast. It's a clean smooth, wide beam of light. It works VERY well for late night computer work, without bothering others.
