Vortex Viper 8×42 binoculars simply the best value for the money. I compared to Nikon HD 8×42 and they are very close to equal in all categories but less than half the price! Images are sharp and clear, comfortable in the hand and on the eye and not heavy. Look no further.

These are truly excellent binoculars. I have 10×42 Leicas and wanted something a little lighter and with greater field of view and these work perfectly. Also has excellent close focusing. Small spiders leap to your eyes. What I do not like is the case/harness it came with. It is made for really skinny/small people. I'm not huge and it holds the binos nearly up to my chin and tight around my arms. Nor would it be any good with a coat so forget about using it in the Fall/Winter/Early spring. A waste of money when all they have to do is put longer straps on it. Fortunately I have a much better case/harness already that I can use. Maybe I can find some better straps that will work for this.

I’ve been looking for a new pair of binoculars and found what I wanted in the Vortex Viper HD 8×42. It has super clear optics from edge to edge. Its 5.25mm exit pupil (objective/power) makes for an optic that can reach further into twilight and allows me to see things other binoculars would miss.

This was a Black Friday purchase of a well rated pair of binoculars, the Vortex Razor 8 x 42HD. The eye relief could be a little better but the brightness and sharpness make up for it. I’m hoping the focus wheel will loosen a little with birding use.
