I have used the Gen 1 Viper PST 2.5-10×32 FFP a few times and liked it, so when the Gen 2 came out I was interested in seeing what had been refined.Moving the illumination control off the eyepiece is the first thing I noticed and in my opinion is an excellent change. Looks cleaner and removes a snag point. I also prefer the EBR-4 reticle to the EBR-1, as the EBR-4 has finer lines and a varietyThe upgraded turrets offer slightly more max adjustment and utilize the RZR zero stop system rather than the CRS zero stop system that requires shims. While the Gen 2 has better Field of View than the Gen 1 and a close focus of 20yds instead of 35yds, it is also a bit heavier and has slightly shorter eye relief than the previous model.Overall I think the weight gain is worth the upgraded features and for the price this scope is packed with value.

I bought this scope for my AR-10. I am a hunter and wanted to reach out for better distance specifically for hog hunting, though if an opportunity arose that a trophy buck appeared, I did not want to miss an opportunity. Both happened with success. The scope performed well in the breaking morning sun rays and the low light of legal shooting time. At morning light, this scope gave me clarity to harvest a hog at 138 yards. It dropped another at low-light of dusk at 180 yards. At 128 yards, this scope was right on for a 10-point south Texas buck. It was easy to dial in. It is easy to focus and most importantly for me as a hunter, it is great in low light conditions and spot on target. I wish flip caps came with each Vortex scope. Especially at this price. It is a great scope for an AR-10. It is quality.

Great scope other than the fact that Vortex changed the markings on the windage knob to L1, L2,…, R1, R2… Got a bit confusing. Manual says turn appropriately following directional arrow, where there was none. Had it mounted and bore sighted at shop, windage already adjusted from zero on the windage knob, threw me off. Otherwise great scope, no complaints.

I own 3 vortex scopes, 2 ffp , one on a 308 sniper rifle, one on a 223 coyote gun and one sfp scope on a tavor x95. I love them all. This one I purchased for a precision 223 coyote/varmint AR. As expected the glass is as clear as any and the illuminated reticle is sharp and precise. I built the rifle to shoot between 0-250 yards but I can consistently hit out to 350 with this optic. I have never had an issue with vortex products and the few times I picked their brains for recommendations, they were always quick to respond. I believe their quality rivals other optics at 2-3 times the price. Optics planet had the best price and fast shipping. Thank you for great service.

I already have the 1-6x and 5-25x PST2 scopes and I wanted a more DMR type scope but not another LPVO. I was torn between this and the 3-15 but the 2x I wanted to use it more like a LPVO but wanted the 10x like the Razor without paying for the Razor 1-10x. One downside of this scope is do not expect to use the illumination in daylight it is completely not visible but I knew this going in and was not looking for that to be an option as I would rather use a red dot or my 1-6 Viper. I am not sure how I like or dislike the reticle it is just different but I think once I develop a DOPE for it I am going to really like it. The reticle is very small at 2x since this is a FFP but if you ever used the Viper 1-4x you will kind of know what I mean but this was something I was already aware of and is a non issue for me.

Probably the best midpoint in the PST Gen2 lineup. I got my first one over a year ago and killed several deer with it last fall. Looking for a good sale and may get another. Currently have on a 30-06, but see benefits in placing on a straight wall setup, or even an AR. Because it doesn’t go below 2x, it’s not called an LPVO, but the 2-10x magnification allows a lot of versatility from point blank to easily 400 yards and beyond. I keep my parallax on 100 yards for quick use, but helps clarify images when used. I have several of the higher magnification models in this family, but the extra magnification is not always helpful.
