In just a short period of time, this tool let's you alleviate one possible inconsistency. Shots were more consistent after truing the face of the receiver.

Just a bit of oil on the main journal and then the cutting compound on the larger one (just follow the instructions) and in a few seconds of use, you are good to go.Very easy to use and a good value for the money. I'd expect getting dozens, if not many multiples of that, uses out of the amount of compound they send you alone. If properly stored, I can see the tool itself lasting forever.

I ALREADY OWN THE WHEELER AR/15 LAPPING TOOL. I AM NOW BUILDING SEVERAL AR/10's. BECAUSE THESE COMPANIES ARE TURNING OUT UPPERS LIKE POPCORN, SOME OF THE UPPER RECEIVER BARREL SURFACES ARE AS MUCH AS 0.005+ (THOUSANDTHS) CANTED EITHER LEFT, RIGHT, UP OR DOWN. THIS CAN CAUSE ERRATIC BULLET IMPACT AS THE BARREL AND RECEIVER GET HOT. WHEN YOU START STRETCHING YOUR SHOTS 300 TO 600 YARDS AND BEYOND. I PROVED THIS TO A COUPLE OF SHOOTING FRIENDS, WHO BECAME FRUSTRATED WITH SHOOTING BEYOND 400 YARDS AFTER THE BARRELS WERE HOT. I DISSEMBLED TRUED THE UPPERS AND REASSEMBLED. WE WENT BACK TO THE RANGE MADE NO OPTICS ADJUSTMENTS, 1-GUN SHOT 3" HIGH AT 300yds. THE OTHER SHOT 2 1/4" TO THE RIGHT. AFTER MAKING OPTIC ADJUSTMENTS WE SHOT TILL THE BARRELS WERE HOT AND SHOT PLACEMENT STAYED CONSISTENT. TAKE A LITTLE EXTRA TIME TRUE YOUR UPPER RECEIVER, BECAUSE LONG RANGE SHOOTERS NEED ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET. GOOD GUN CONTROL MEANS HITTING YOUR TARGET!

Tool arrived with scuffs, dings, and the receiver shaft has a small ridge that runs its length, tool/not round. Even after removing the burs cleaning up the dings and lubricating liberally, the out of round shaft scared the interior of my upper where the bolt resides. The tool was properly packaged, which leads me to believe the tool was carelessly mishandled at the manufacturer. So many dents and dings can only be inflicted by throwing these tools, unprotected into a large parts bin.

Don’t waste your time with this… they didn’t increase the size of the cutting head to accommodate AR10 barrel extensions so it will not cut the entire surface… Idk how anyone at Wheeler could have approved this but they need to find new people

Threw mine in the lathe to square off the giant chamfer on the working face of this tool that really shouldn't be there and it wasn't even true. Very disappointing. I should have just made my own.
