So this is a good unit if you are looking for a small handheld unit that will allow you to detect at fairly far distances. It does lack the resolution to identify outside of approx 100yrds. If this is the only thermal you have you will like it. If you have other thermal units that are only a few years old, you may not be impressed with the quality/sharpness of the image. This unit will detect heat and this will aid you when you get your other thermal scope on to the target. It is much easier to use to scan compared to using your primary optic on a rifle.

I couldn't afford the 640 version. But after getting this unit in 320, I have no regrets. It works great for what I need to do.I primarily use it to walk around my property at night without the need of a flashlight. It has a really wide FOV and a true 1x lens, so I can navigate the terrain without stumbling or falling. It also has some good features, like video record and a ton of color pallets, which I enjoy. It helps me see all sorts of things lurking in the dark. Overall great product and purchase.

Nice compact thermal useful for general short/mid-range "awareness." Good deal with the packaged mount that comes with the item via Optics Planet. Not a top-of-the-line thermal as it's 320×240 resolution just isn't good enough for demanding applications. But it's small size & weight makes it useful in various ways — either as a helmet mounted or hand-held thermal for w/i 100 yds use.
