This is a fantastic, affordable IR illuminator/laser, white light, and vis laser unit. It does eat batteries like crazy if you leave them in though, so follow their guidelines for storage. It's recommended batteries are removed after use. If you plan to use this unit as your daily or home protection white light and/or vis laser along side the occasional use under NODS I wouldn't recommend it just because of the parasitic drain. Having the addition of a white light in the same housing is great for saving space, especially on shorter rails. The flexibility of using CR123A's or a rechargeable 18650 battery is awesome too.
