So I ordered one of these so I could clean full shotgun barrels and AR type rifles. It's huge and has lots of transducers. I previously had a Hornady Magnun, Hornady 7L, and a Hornady Hot-Tub. None of them were built as solid as this thing nor did they work as effectively. The fist one of these I got had the weld that held one of the wheels in fail as soon as I filled it up with solution. It spilled a lot of expansive solution and had to be returned. Thankfully i purchased from Optics Planet which made the exchange process easy. The second one I got was solid and the wheels all seem to work just fine. Got it filled up, put the lid on it, and then found out days later that it was half empty. It was leaking out of the right hand side! The previous one also had gotten wet and I would bet that it was leaking as well. I checked all the welds in the tank and they were solid. Then I removed the bottom panel and could immediately see the issue. Where the drain fits into the tank was well sealed. The pipe then dipped down and made a 90 degree turn towards the drain valve. It too was well sealed and had plenty of pipe dope on it. The joint however where the draincock threads on from the outside of the unit to the internal plumbing had nothing on it. It was completely wet around the joint and the foam insulation was saturated around it. I removed the valve, doped the threads, and reinstalled it. Finally… no leaks! Now the unit was ready to actually use! For parts and guns the supplied basket worked just fine. If you're a reloader and clean cases however the basket is terrible. Lyman makes some great reloading supplies so I'm surprised by the oversight. The holes in the basket are large enough that 45ACP and .308 Winchester cartridges fall through. These are fairly big cases to and the basket is an obvious oversight. For cleaning it does an awesome job. I dropped in my AR-22 that had 600 rounds of dirty .22LR though it and it came out spotless and without having to manually clean items with a brush. I also bought the supplemental tank that can be used for ultrasonic lubrication. The two step process would be easier if the tank came with a basket or if additional ones were available *they are not*. Overall a step up from my previous Hornady units but I should not have had to do all the work to make them work properly or return the first unit. I logged a ticket online with Hornady asking about the leaks. I opened another ticket inquiring about a basket. Neither have been responded to in two weeks.

So in all I've purchased three of these. The first one leaked and the welds for the wheels broke. It was returned and replaced. The second one leaked badly and I had to open up the bottom and use pipe sealing compound on the threads of all the drain system. It never had it from the factory and nothing was tightened up. Wasted 7 gallons of cleaning solution, made a huge mess of the floor, and the smell will never go away. It also was missing it's basket, which is essential to operation. Calls to Lyman for the part went unanswered and I still never got my basket. The third one leaked as bad as the prior two but I fixed that as soon as I got it.Months after delivery the second and third units both had the welds that hold the wheels in break. Don't bother calling Lyman to help you out. Their process is that you send the item freight prepaid, on your own dime, and they'll consider it for repair. If they choose not to fix it for any reason they'll charge you again to ship it back. Now I'm attempting to build my own cart to set it on as it must be elevated to cool itself and run properly. With a broken wheel it is unstable and will cause issues.I've bought lots of Lyman products over the years but after all of this I can no longer recommend them for anything. Several thousand dollars only to have to build my own rig to make the thing work.
