Trijicon TA31RCO Rifle Scope is an Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight (ACOG) designed for the M16A4 weapon system (20″ barrel). Trijicon TA31RCO-A4 ACOG 4×32 USMC Rifle Combat Optic for the A4 w/ TA51 Mount provides the shooter with quick target acquisition at close combat ranges while providing enhanced target identification and hit probability out to 800 meters utilizing the Bullet Drop Compensator. Trijicon TA31RCO-A4CP ACOG 4×32 Scope with BAC USMC Rifle Combat Optic (RCO) for A4 incorporates dual-illumination technology using a combination of fiber optics and self-luminous tritium. This allows the aiming point to be always illuminated without the use of batteries. The Tritium illuminates the aiming point in total darkness, and the fiber-optic self-adjusts reticle brightness during daylight according to ambient light conditions. This allows the operator to keep both eyes open while engaging targets and maintaining maximum situational awareness. Trijicon TA31RCO A4CP 4 x 32mm ACOG Advanced Combat Optical Gunsights hit fast in any light. Trijicon ACOG 4 x 32 Rifle Scopes are internally-adjustable, compact telescopic sights with tritium illuminated reticle patterns for use in low light or at night. Trijicon 4×32 ACOGs combine traditional, precise distance marksmanship with close-in aiming speed. Although Trijicon ACOG 4 x 32 Rifle Scopes TA31RCO-A4CP have many features which are very advantageous for military use, they were developed by Trijicon without government funding. Designed for use with the M16 family, every feature of its mechanical and optical design was chosen for a single purpose: to provide increased hit potential in all lighting conditions – without failure-prone batteries. I have talked to a number of Marines before my purchase. With the except of shallow debth of field, the sight is durable easy to use and very durable. I highly recommend the Knight Armament fold down sight as a back up sight, it tucks under the siteI highly recommend the 24 meter zeroing target for the M 4 rifle. Downloadable for free at: http://ohmr.ohio.gov/forms/ohmr2444-b.pdf Just use the 300 meter mark at base of Chevron and it works like a charm.

This the exact model RCO I used in Afghanistan. Perfect for finishing out my M16A4 clone build. Good 4x and it's always illuminated since it's got the tritium and fiver optic. The BDC reticle holds pretty close too.

Bought this for my M16A4 clone build, and it goes together like bread and butter. Ringing steel out to 500yds without a pause. The glass clarity and field of vision is un-paralleled and makes using the BDC really easy. The Eye-relief is the only issue with this optic, but with a soft recoiling A4 its not an issue.

4/5 only because I didn't like the TA51 Mount. Replaced with LaRue Tac. & this became the ideal sight for my A4gery.Great Glass, even with the ARD & Killflash on light transmission is still more than ample. Tritium glows bright in the dark and the Fiber optics work incredible with ambient light. BAC capable for snap shooting at closer range and built like a tank! I only wish i had gotten one sooner, it seems the price goes up every year. Just a note after using this first hand and letting some smaller people try to shoot my rifle w/A2 stock =Eye releif is not the best on the 4x models so if your not putting you nose on the charge handle (or have an M4 adj. stock) you may want to consider one of the 3.5X models for the extra eye relief or forgo a buis and move the Acog all the way back on the upper receiver.

When building my SDMR-inspired rifle, I thought I'd try the RCO A4. It's the tried and true 4x ACOG. I even managed to skirt the short eye relief dilemma that, by now, anyone considering a TA31 should be familiar with. It's a great optic but the reticle lines were just a little too fine for me.I ended up going with a TA55 for my 20" build.

Let me start off by saying that this was bought to put on my M16A4 clone, which is a copy of the gun I was ssued as an 0352 in the Marines. My bootcamp class was one of the last classes to qualify with iron sights. We were told "hey you may be wondering if you got jipped, and you didn't. The fundamentals are still there and their shooting is no easier than your shooting." Fast forward three years later I was called to requalify on the range, and this time I had a RCOA4 on my M16A4. I will have to say that I was absolutely lied to, and this optic made it super easy. You know you're at 500 yards? Cool, drop the 500 yard stadia line on it and shoot. The one I was issued was blown up multiple times before it got to me, and still got me to qualify as an expert. The one I was issued originally had the thumb screw mounts but eventually had it replaced with the LaRue mount, and the fiber optic pipe was fractured in a few places. That always stuck with me, but my budget always kept me away from buying an ACOG. Well, once Optics planet had a good enough sale on them, I decided to pounce on it. I have looked through and shot with other more affordable scopes (love my vortex stuff for most things) but the clarity of the ACOG is unreal. (I must admit that I tried a Primary Arms PAC5X as a cheap place-holder but the clarity on that meant I could only see as wel as with my Vortex 3X magnifier+meopta MRAD setp) I will say that this model is MUCH nicer than the one that I was issued. For starters, the issued one required a flathead screwdriver/rim of brass to adjust, but this one has a built in external turret (still protected by caps). As a common grunt, we weren't trusted with most of the accessories/SL3, so I was shocked with how much stuff came with the ACOG. It came with a scopecoat, lenspen, sticker, good carrying case, and even a mount that can be used to attach it to a carry handle. I now have an optic for my M16A4 clone that has reached out to 500 yards easily again. I would highly recommend an ACOG for anyone looking to maximize their 5.56 platform's effective range (Wallet/credit permitting). If you ever get reticle bleedout (too much ambient light), you can always take a bit of electric tape to mask some light from the fiber optic bar. I find that a 4X optic on a 5.56 (one this clear) pairs perfectly, as it is powerful enough to hit minute of man out to 500-600 (maybe more, but I can't personally confirm) yet low magnification enough to use at closer range. The often preached Binden Aiming concept is a great method to use optics like this and I highly reccommend it. As for now, I also have a PVS-14 that I have a weapon mount for that perfectly cowitnesses with the ACOG like the old service gun. My only complaint beyond price is that the eye relief is very short, I'm used to nose-to-charginghandle shooting, but not everyone is.
