This is a good spotting scope if you catch it on sale and you're not expecting the performance of a scope that costs 3 to 10 times as much. The good is that it is clear and and reasonably sharp with decent contrast at 20x, and this remains up to just past 40x. The construction seems to be sturdy, and the indexed and lockable body rotation ring is nice. It comes with a nice padded soft armor wrap that has quick-release ocular and objective covers. The wrap provides access to the mount and focus ring so it does not need to be removed to use the scope. It seems well constructed and should be durable with normal use.Not so good is that once you go all the way to 60x, the image is noticeably dimmer with less contrast. There are no large distortions, but chromatic aberration (color fringing) starts to become quite noticeable at 60x. Focus is not constant as you zoom. You will have refocus after changing the zoom, and it's a big difference.

This is a great value spotting scope. This does not compare to the more expensive models, but that is not a fair comparison. For the price this scope met my needs.Pros:+ Cost+ Build quality+ Warranty from great brand+ Adjustable ring to change eyepiece location+ comes with neoprene sleeve for protectionCons:- Eye relief is very short – at highest mag your eye is basically touching the eyepiece. If wear glasses or eye protection this can get a little annoying.- glass quality – the glass is not the clearest, but at this price point you get what you pay for. The image is perfectly acceptable.

Clear glass. Typical vortex construction. Lower price point but still performs. I could read an AC label from over 500 yards in my neighborhood. Comes with a tight cover. Perfect for my upcoming whitetail hunt. Clear precise instructions that were easy to learn. I also bought the vortex tripod which fit this scope perfectly. Good job Vortex. Optics Planet also delivered in a quick timely fashion.

This is my first spotting scope and almost everything about it is great! Other reviews can explain better than I, the virtues of this scope but I wanted ti explain too issues that I had. I know nothing about Arca Swiss mounting plates so I ordered a tripod with an Arca Swiss compatible QR plate to fit the Arca Swiss compatible shoe on the scope. Didn’t work because of different widths so mounted the quick release Arca Swiss plate from tripod to scope via the 1/4” bolt in the plate! Works great! I wear glasses so I’ve been trying to adjust the eyecup to allow a reasonable field of view while wearing my specs. End result is- Great field of view with no glasses on and my eye firmly on the eyepiece. My vision, thank goodness, is not too bad so this works for me. But if you wear glasses realize eye relief is pretty short. Highly recommend!

This is a good spotting scope for the price. And vortex has a great warranty so if anything goes wrong, they will support you. It’s not the best glass out there, but for the price, you can’t beat it.

We recently purchased the Vortex Crossfire HD 20-60×80 Spotting Scope for game spotting from the comfort of our living room in north central Idaho. We are enjoying the new scope and pleased with its performance and operating features. Using the scope on 60 power vs 20 power is much more challenging trying to get the eye relief and eye position correct so we are still getting used to that. The scope is well balanced for my tripod as compared to my old Bushnel scope, which had a tendency to tip the scope unless the tension was plenty tight. The quality of the build and the materials used is quite good. One day I will take it out in the mountains and see how I like it for glassing clear cuts and open meadows. This should gives us a better test since we won't be looking through the glass of our living room window.
