I purchased the Angled model. And for a sit-down spotting scope with a Tripod the angled is the way to go. (It replaced a straight Redfield Rampage, which is a waste of money). In all seriousness… the straight model could easily be your do-everything optic if you wanted it to, since it starts out at 11x. The sharpness of the image and clarity are beautiful with this scope. Just beautiful. The picture narrows a bit after 22x and ya need to get a little close to the eyepiece after 22x. But you can't argue with the quality of image even up at 33x. That fine-focus knob is the key at the high power. I take this and the Vortex Summit SS tripod with me almost every time here in SoCal. The lightweight is the thing that encourages you to actually bring it. Plus it's just plain cool to look thru! Makes you realize and notice how the years (and computerwork) have affected your vision. Your brain gets excited at how clearly you once again can see the world around you! If you can't afford this spotter… then I highly recommend you look at getting the Bushnell Ultra Legend HD 10×42 Monocular as a Plan B. It has a built-in threaded tripod mount hole on its underside and it's image quality is pretty much the same as this, just no zoom. If I am packing for multi-nite campout and space becomes an issue so I cannot take this spotter… I don't feel that I am giving up very much by taking just that Bushnell 10×42 Monocular and the Tripod. On the Vortex I definitely appreciate the Angled model versus the Straight model it replaced. Makes looking upward toward ridges much much easier. Makes using a spotter just more comfortable in-general. One thing I will say that's negative is that I don't care for the mounting adapter quick-change plate that you must use with their Vortex SS Tripod's head. It must be screwed on to your optic ahead of time, and requires a coin (etc) to do so… and it creates 4 sharp corners which could have the potential to harm the inside of your packs spotter sleeve pocket. That's the only slightly negative thing I can comment in regards to this product, and that's being picky.

This scope is powerful in a small package. Excellent clear glass. Easy to operate. A real joy to use. I use the scope at the range. On the pistol side i can attach it to a clap and hang it off the side of my position. On the rifle side i use a full height free standing tripod to eliminate excess movement. This gives you a very clear view of your target. I can see .22 shots out to 100 years very easily.

I have been very pleased with this spotting scope. The clarity/sharpness is excellent. It is compact and easy to travel with. My previous spotting scope was a Redfield. There is no comparison. At the highest magnification the picture is still sharp. I have only used it at a range out to 200 yards. Easily see holes made by .270, .308, 30-06 calibers. I think would be very good in a pack if someone was hiking in to hunt or simply view scenes while hiking.

Very light weight, great for packing in. Clear sharp glass at lower magnification. Gets dark at max Magnification. Hoped for a little better glass from vortex's razor top of the line. But i guess it should be expected at 33x with only a 50mm objective lense. I was able to spot a deer in a soy bean field at 1.7 miles, Google earth confirmed. Would buy again

Words cannot describe how extremely happy I am with this vortex 11-33×50 spotter. The HD glass makes a huge difference the image is so crisp and clear it's hard to believe. Some people complain that this isn't big enough or has enough zoom power. I have found this not to be true. I have glasses up bedded bucks at over a mile with nothing but their head and heck showing. I can tell if I'm looking at a mature deer or a small buck at that same distance and depending on the circumstances I can even tell how many points he has. Used this on Utah as well and have had amazing luck spotting elk at once again over a mile away. Best hunting purchase I've ever made!

This is the Best Spotting Scope I have ever used not only is the Glass super clear all the way out to 33X but is still light weight and very packable. any other spotting scope on the market you just wont use or only use from the truck because they are all just to big and clunky. I have taken it on multiple elk hunting trips and wolf hunting trips and love to bring it just because I know it wont take up to much room in my pack. just to give you an idea on the clarity I was able to spot a coyote over a mile away with this thing and tons of elk at "who knows" how far away. Great product Vortex!!! if I could give it any thing that I would like for them to change is a fitted case
